Another day of big visual changes!
While I finished painting the shelves, David cut and placed down the carpet padding.

He also painted the shelving braces.

Once the padding was down, all four of us trooped outside to spread a couple of tarps over the driveway so that we could unroll the carpet. That was a little harder than it sounds, because it was – of course – windy. Despite the fact we and tarps almost took flight a few times, we did manage to get everything down.
David measured and pre-cut. We have some left…anyone need brand new carpet in a 9 x 7 size?
He and Colton carried it inside, and wouldn’t you know it? The Furry Bottom Boys decided they’d better inspect.

We decided we passed.

Time to spread that carpet out, and git’er done!

Colton helped quite a bit with this part.

Once the carpet was down and stretched, it was time to install the doors.
The closet door had to be cut down to fit.

David painted the doors; I went with just plain old white satin interior paint, since my window’s frame and outlet covers are all white, and the wall/trim colors are kind of dark.

David also began painting the door frames (blue to match the trim) and installed the door knob on the closet.
Basically all we have left to do is cut, paint and install the door trim and baseboards, plus the room door’s knob and I can move in!
Still need a ceiling fan and my overhead cabinets for my desk, but we’ll worry about those after the first of the year sometime.
And once I’ve moved in, it’ll be back to the utility room to finish up in there.

David worked on cutting shelves and braces for my closet while I went to pick Colton up.
He was sanding the shelves down when we returned, so I was able to start painting them.

He installed and primered the shelving braces (I don’t know what else to call them!):

We pretty much called it a night after that.
Fasten your seat belts: big visual changes ahead!
David and I went to Lubbock to find carpet and pick up the wood needed for my closet shelves.
Carpet ended up being different than my first pick, but that’s okay. We got a deal on it and it still matches nicely.

We also took care of things like getting haircuts.
Returned home in time to pick Samantha up from school, and then for me to run out to the barn to feed.
When I returned from the barn, it was to discover David had begun painting the walls! Woohoo!

And the windowsill:

All the corners first:

After that, he got serious and laid down some paint, baby.

Last touch was installing my track lighting and the outlet covers.
